Strictly perfect score

Yesterday my favorite couple Brian Fortuna and his celebrity partner Ali Bastian scored the perfect 40 with their Viennese Waltz. What can I say, favorite couple from the beginning is staying my favorite couple as the competition heats up.

Other than the excitement of Strictly it has been a quiet weekend, but most therapeutic. Life is good!

Compulsory Sex & Drugs Education

'Attention children. To set the mood Miss Spilsbury will strip off to demonstrate upside-down pole dancing whilst snorting a line of coke...

Another old friend in town

Yesterday I met another long time no see friend Fatina from Denmark. We hadn't seen each other for over 10 years so it was nice to catch up over sushi lunch. Her eldest daughter Miss E is already 13 and last time I saw her she was tottering about in nappies. Doesn't time just fly by the older you get?! We promised to try not to leave it too long before we meet again and for the rest there is always the Facebook. Good times!

Happy B-Day Young Vic!

Today is the second birthday of my gorgeous nephew Young Vic. His day started with a most pleasant present that was a toy fire truck. He wanted to take it with him to the crèche and spoke about it all the way there reports my Big Brother.

I sent him my present to him together with his x-mas pressie and left it to my Big Brother to decide which present is for which celebration. Have fun nephew of mine and enjoy all your pressies :)

Or would you rather be a fish?

When the film Hudson Hawk came out back in 1991 it was a major flop. But to me it was a screaming success with totally avant garde comic book feel to it. My colleague has been humming the song "Would You Like To Swing On Star" at work and it immediately reminded me of this brilliant film. Good stuff!

Hotel charges

Next time you think your hotel bill is too high you might want to consider this...

Husband and wife are traveling by car from Key West to Boston. After almost twenty-four hours on the road, they're too tired to continue, and they decide to stop for a rest. They stop at a nice hotel and take a room, but they only plan to sleep for four hours and then get back on the road.

When they check out four hours later, the desk clerk hands them a bill for $350.00. The man explodes and demands to know why the charge is so high. He tells the clerk although it's a nice hotel, the rooms certainly aren't worth $350.00!

When the clerk tells him $350.00 is the standard rate, the man insists on speaking to the Manager.

The Manager appears, listens to the man, and then explains that the hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference center that were available for the husband and wife to use.

"But we didn't use them," the man complains.

"Well, they are here, and you could have," explains the Manager. He goes on to explain they could have taken in one of the shows for which the hotel is famous. "The best entertainers from New York , Hollywood and Las Vegas perform here," the Manager says.

"But we didn't go to any of those shows," complains the man again.

"Well, we have them, and you could have," the Manager replies.
No matter what amenity the Manager mentions, the man replies, "But we didn't use it!"

The Manager is unmoved, and eventually the man gives up and agrees to pay. He writes a check and gives it to the Manager. The Manager is surprised when he looks at the check.

"But sir," he says, "this check is only made out for $50.00."

"That's correct," says the man. "I charged you $300.00 for sleeping with my wife."

"But I didn't!" exclaims the Manager.

"Well, too bad," the man replies. "She was here and you could have."

Old friends and future plans

This weekend gone just flew past. Ms JJ and I met up Friday and then had so much fun that we met up again Sunday after the brief storm flew over London town. Sadly I forgot my camera and there is no visual aids to our day in Camden. But it was really nice to see her and bon voyage home today!

Min had her B-Day yesterday and we had some cake with dreamy Chantilly Cream which was nice indeed. Let the record show that she is 21 again.

As for me...everyday continues today with colder weather than of late but it should stay dry. Well, I must keep my eye on the price as the Prague trip is fast approaching.

This week has gone quite quick. The postal strike is still irking me but I have decided to lean back and watch the CWU self destruct. There are more news about other strikes up and down the country and they reckon it will be a long winter of discontent ahead of us. Hmmmm....

In the news also Tony Blaiar (read liar) is trying to elbow his way to a EU presidency, but not surprisingly the union powers that be are turning against him one by one. In fact I plead the EU not to let him break the union like he broke this country and just walked away leaving the ruddy mess behind. What can I say, same shit different day in politics.

The Baseballs in turn have provided me with tons of pleasure this week. I downloaded their album from Play.com and I have been bobbing my way to work and home with honey like harmonies in stereo in my MP3 player. It's official, I'm in Love ;)

This weekend my mate Executive Producer Ms Jennifer Jones is in town and tonight after work we will find ourselves a pub and settle down for a few beers and get on with about 4 years worth of catching up. Good times!

Happy Friday everyone :)

Hello Phil!

The new sponsored dog that was kindly allocated to me by Dogs Drust is called Phil and what a handsome chap he is.

Goodbye Monica!

This most annoying postal striking that started in August has delayed a letter to me posted in September advising that my lovely sponsor dog Monica had moved on to the big beach in the sky after short illness. *deep sigh*

The Baseballs: Eye and ear candy

This Rockabilly band called The Baseballs hails form Germany and jawohl mein gott what eye candy they are indeed with almost perfect harmonies. Bitte ja!

Below the best version I have ever heard of Katy Perry's Hot'n'cold and these lovely chaps also cover some other hits from Roxette to Lady Gaga to Green Day. Good stuff!

Blondie saves lives

Dear Diary

DAY 1

All packed for the cruise ship -- all my sexiest dresses and make-up. Really excited.

DAY 2

Entire day at sea, beautiful and saw whales and dolphins. Met the Captain today -- seems like a very nice man.

DAY 3

At the pool today. Also some shuffle boarding and hit golf balls off the deck. Captain invited me to join him at his table for dinner. Felt honored and had a wonderful time. He is very attractive and attentive.

DAY 4

Won $800 in the ship's casino. Captain asked me to have dinner with him in his own cabin. Had a luxurious meal complete with caviar and champagne. He asked me to stay the night but I declined. Told him I could not be unfaithful to my husband.

DAY 5

Pool again today, got sun burnt, and went inside to drink at piano bar for rest of day. Captain saw me, bought me several large drinks. Really is charming. Again asked me to visit his cabin for the night. Again I declined. He told me if I did not let him have his way with me he would sink the ship. I was shocked!

DAY 6

Today I saved 1600 lives.Twice.

Strictly smooth

This week my favorite couple Brian Fortuna and his celebrity partner Ali Bastian scored the highest score of this series of Strictly Come Dancing so far with their American Smooth and what an enjoyable beautiful dance it was.

Otherwise quiet weekend continues and I am off to get the Sunday papers shortly.

Deimos baby

Long time and no news from the silk haired sofa eater Deimos, but last night I received few new pictures which elevated my missing him to a tearful stage. So I chose a picture where he has a slight melancholy look in his eyes. *deep sigh*

Democracy works in mysterious ways

What's wrong today? Well, many things but here are few that really get under my proverbial wig.

CWU - they are saying that they are trying to protect their jobs thus holding the rest of the country hostage by striking for the next couple of days and past couple of months "unofficially". What makes them so special and drunk with power by making ordinary peoples life's difficult? I haven't got a pay rise this year and we have lost staff in my company and we just have to get on with it with the rising cost of everything. Well up yours as I have changed all my bills to be paid over the net and my cards will be e-cards from now on. My nephews b-day and x-mas presents are being couriered today to Finland via well known worldwide courier company. What will happen to your jobs when even 30% of the country does the same?

BNP - Some people are screaming that these people should not be allowed to appear on BBC Question Time and legal action is being threatened. In the mean while once again certain religious groups are allowed to demonstrate and threaten the rest of the world that we will be beaten to submission by them and that we should have a law that takes us right back to the year the sword and the stone. Have little faith as not all of us viewers are not stupid and we can quite easily differentiate twats form idiots. Freedom of speech in this country is not really fair and not for everyone at times it seems. Some people are allowed to voice extreme opinions and actions but rest of us should shut up. It works both ways, you have to let everyone to have a voice in democracy.

Lisbon memories

Amo-te Lisboa

What an absolute pleasure the Lisbon trip was once again. Min and I enjoyed every minute to the max and the beer was a plenty and it was cold. Wednesday morning we boarded the BA flight to Portugal and Captain Nigel flew us there in no time and we were greeted by cloudless skies and temperature of balmy 28 degrees. During the day we proceeded to greet our friends in various establishments and and somehow managed not to get too drunk on the first night.

On Thursday again the skies we cloudless and temperatures high and we had arranged on the previous day for me to get some ink done in Lisboa Ink and a nice chap called Christian made me a beautiful new tattoo which is no.10 on my body. We went to hang in the park named after Eduardo VII and I stayed in the shade with my new tattoo. More good food and drink followed and life felt seriously good.

Friday we hit the tourist trail and visited the Castelo de São Jorge to have a long good look over the beautiful town of Lisbon. We then descended and quickly backed off the tourist areas and walked our feet to a pulp around the back streets of Saldanha followed by a looooong lunch with friends. Then Min proceeded to Amoreiras to do some more shopping and I parked my back side in a street cafe to enjoy some cold beer. Well, quiet drink it was not as a Norwegian stag party parked them selves on the next table and then the beer started to flow with a lot of "SKOL" ringing about in the air.

Then it was all over too soon once again and we made our way home yesterday with BA flown by Captain Andy. And I managed to pick up a little cold (not the swine or flu variety) and I am sniffling and feeling a bit sorry for my self. But onwards and upwards and I have the task of compiling the holiday video so pictures and video to follow.

Obrigado e veja-o logo Lisboa!

Lisbon baby!!!

Ola! It is now stupid o'clock and I am getting ready to leave for the airport with Min. Mr S has kindly offered to drive us to Heathrow and then BA will fly us to Lisbon. This time I leave my little blonde laptop home so if there are any updates amongst the merriment, it is because we have found an internet cafe that sells beer ;)

Tenha o divertimento… que nós certamente!

Juggling increases brain power

Most of my youth I spent learning and performing various circus skills, but juggling was my greatest love. I saw this news today and went straight to ebay to purchase me some juggling balls to reignite the skill I once possessed to increase the white matter on my brain.

I even found an old pic from the old days. I am on the left and I would say around 13 years young and face full of puppy fat. Oh deary me....

Strictly hot salsa

Week 4 and Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna continue to deliver. The other contender in this years competition is the rather dishy Ricky Whittle and his professional partner Natalie Lowe and here is their salsa. These two couples would be the dream final for me although there are couple of very good celebrity ladies that might well ruin my master plan. Well, have to remember that this dancing, not football so no need to take it too seriously ;)

This weeks news (are they really news?)

This week the news have been full of more bull excrement than normally. There has been the so called “race row” with Strictly which I don’t think warrants the coverage that it has received.

Then “Call me Dave” has been whipping his party cronies into frenzy with his speech that unfortunately still failed to ignite any of my passions. Good speaker, shame about the message.

Apparently quarter of the world is of one type of religion. And how does this affect my life? Not at even one iota so I do not know why I am even mentioning it.

In Finland the High Court stated that it is not GBH (grevious bodily harm) if you are attacked with a hammer or baseball bat etc. Apparently it is only GBH if a knife or a gun is used. So if you get slapped about or beaten to a bulb with a baseball bat, hammer or 2x4 by your spouse, he won't get done for GBH but just actual bodily harm. Unfortunately I don't have an English link to this story but mind boggles as this seems to be sooooo wrong on so many levels. Law and justice really have nothing to do with each other *shaking my head*

To round up the sad/non essential/total bull excrement news, Lionel the Lobster was blown to smithereens because he did not understand that he was living in a submerged WW2 mine. Poor creature and I hope it did not suffer but at least it went with a bang rather than a whimper.

Have good weekend all ;)

Lisbon on my mind

Midweek and I am already tired. This autumn weather and dark mornings are bringing me down and being busy at work does not help. So a bit of a sulk going on here.

But as always, there is something to look forward to as this time next week Min and I have just about landed to my favourite European capital Lisbon and the three days of good time will commence. Because we have visited Lisbon already few times and we have made few friends and got couple of "local's" that we frequent whilst there, it should be good and can't wait!

Strictly romantic

Strictly Come Dancing competition is hotting up and there is also romance in the air for some of the competitors. My favorite couple Brian Fortuna and his celebrity partner Ali Bastian seem to be the tabloid press sweethearts of this week.

Well, their dancing looks good and they look good together so lets just sit back and watch this story unfold ;)

Face candy

To my extreme delight one of my all time favourite TV shows A-Team is being made into a film. And even more to my extreme delight delicious and gorgeous Bradley Cooper is playing Face which will cause some serious palpitations and impure thoughts as did Dirk Benedict in his day. Phawrrrrrr!

Royal Ionian on my mind

Totally pants day at work has made me dream of care free holidays once again when the biggest problem is where to have lunch. One thing that features always in Arillas is my favourite beer Royal Ionian brewed locally by Corfu Beer Ltd. It was also featured in the video mostly in my hand.

I really wouldn't mind a cold one right now, alas I have to wait about 11 months before that will happen. *deep sigh*

Future can wait

I am renown for wishing my life away and counting the days to my much loved holidays. But if I knew the future, would I try to change it? Last night Flash Forward premiered on telly and this drama is following mankind after the whole planets population (but is it everyone???) passes out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. Not only that, most people see during their black out a glimpse of their future 6 months ahead, 29th April 2010.

If that was my cousin, she would probably see yet another B-Day clebration as that date is her birthdate. As for me, I would be most likely surfing the ebay for new swim wear for the forth coming holidays. But I don't really wish to know as I am sure I find out if and when anything actually happens. And what doesn't kill you makes you stronger ;)

This reminds me...only 15 sleeps until LISBON BABY!!!

Arillas memories

Nights are longer and weather is getting chillier but I have put together a video to warm my mind with memories of Arillas until next year. Good times! *deep sigh*

Friday night fun

This morning I am feeling rather fragile but last night was fun. We hit the bar next door straight after work and I stumbled home around midnight.

London Tattoo Convention

Today the 5th London Tattoo Convention kicks off in Tobacco Dock in east London. Lots of artists from around the world and ink, shows and other entertainment and tattoo paraphernalia. Good stuff!

I will try and attend tomorrow but that all depens on how tonight goes as it is my colleague Laila's last day. She is moving back to Norway and naturally there has to be some lady like viking style drinking before she goes. Skol!

Shorter days

This morning was the first morning when I woke up with the windows steamed up over night, which means autumn is really here. That does not inspire me a great deal. Autumnal Equinox passed quietly couple of days ago and now the days are officially shorter than nights.

Busy busy busy week almost done, but all work and no play makes Karelian Blonde a dull blogger. I will try and get on with it over the weekend so more then.

Strictly Game On

New series of Strictly Come Dancing kicked off on Friday and with these changes with judges and dancers, the program did not whip up the excitement as it has done in the previous series.

Mind you, there are no total two wooden legs celebrities gratefully this year which makes the program slightly better.

As for the judges...Alesha Dixon as one did not quite manage to be convincing, but the old judges saved the day. It will be interesting to see how this one develops. The jury's out so to speak ;)

The first 8 couples danced ballroom on Friday and Latin on Saturday and the first couple to leave the show was Matthew Cutler and Martina Hingis. And it was the right decision in my book.

But my favourite American boy from last year Brian Fortuna is my this years favourite as well. He is dancing with actress Ali Bastian from The Bill and I believe they are serious contenders this year. Next week we will see the next eight couples and and I can assess the rest of the competition. Game on!

He's like the wind

Gorgeous Patrick Swayze has moved on to the big screen in the sky. I went through my blog and found this story from last December. This man brought fantasy alive of a good bad man, whose characters could dance, fight and love you forever. Thanks to the films we can watch him forever and keep on indulging the fantasy. *deep sigh*

Dalton in the film Roadhouse:

"All you have to do is follow three simple rules.
One, never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected.
Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary.
And three, be nice."
