Back in black: Ink Is The Thing

Here is the new ink on my back. I love it!!! Thank you Michael aka Atom in Wizard Tattoo for a most beautiful work. Can't wait to see it in couple of weeks when the redness has disappeared and all the shading shows up all gorgeous.

The pain was quite rough on the shoulder blades but the pain on the spine was actually easier than I had imagined. Life is good and pain is only temporary, like boy friends ;)

Update 15th February 2010: All healed and pretty :)

Deimos update

Deimos has now been microchipped and should the silk haired mutt ever go walk about, he can be scanned and returned to my Younger Brother. Good stuff!

Monday musings

This weekend went quietly doing mostly nothing, which was nice. Now it is Monday morning, it is raining and the terrorist threat level has been put up to panic stations here in the UK.

Larry and Ed accross the road in the photo shop look equally not impressed with the weather. The couriers entering my building dripping wet and moan and whinge accordingly. I remind them them that rain is better than snow and then suddenly their discomfort of being wet is replaced by memory of icy roads and freezing cold temperatures and they nod furiously in agreement. We all hate winter in unison.

As for Tottenham 2 all with Leeds... Now we have to try to fit another Cup tie into the schedule if we try to get a Champions League place as well as trying to get a first piece of silverware since the Carling Cup win of 2008. Well, at least the Arse...nal is out of the FA cup so something to smile about :)

Right, I should probably try to work now....we'll see how it goes ;)

I love Vinnie

The Celebrity Big Brother is gathering pace and I am looking forward to it every day. I have a serious celebrity crush on Vinnie Jones and he has turned out to be way funnier, more sensitive and fair than I ever thought. He is rather controlling but then again I do like a man who takes charge ;)

I have not voted for anyone yet but should Vinnie make the final, I might actually have to vote for him just to make sure that he wins. I love you Vinnie!

Give me space!

This news made me think about all the unpleasant travelling I have done over the years on the trains, planes and automobiles.

Living in London I frequently experience being squashed next to a obese person in the underground and I have to endure all the unpleasant consequence that follows. I am talking about profuse sweating, heavy breathing and rolls of squished up fatty bits rolling over the seat handles. I abhor being in close proximity of strangers anyway and when other people’s large physique is forced upon me, I simply despair.

I know there is a variety of different reasons why people get to be that humongus size and in some cases it is not because it is self inflicted. But surely everyone knows at this day and age of information overload that it is seriously unhealthy to be fat/obese and there are steps you can take to change that.

As I see it, this double charge on airlines is justified. If they charge extra weight in luggage, the personal extra weight should be charged as well. What happens in an emergency if you have to move quickly and there is a large person blocking your way and struggling to get out of their seat?

Life is difficult enough on this overcrowded planet without being forced to experience unwanted intimacy with strangers.

Cold beverage or three

This weekend started with a drink straight after work on Friday with my colleagues to celebrate one of their promotion and then there was some more kerfuffle in lovely The Cross Keys pub. Then yesterday Min's old friend Pirjo flew in from Finland for a few days shopping. Naturally we ordered an Indian take away and then the white vino started flowing. Today however I will do only absolute minimum and maybe have a chat with Heavy on Skype. Life is tiring but good :)

My colleague Ms B and I observing a quiet moment whilst drinking in The Long Acre

Sharing a drink and a laugh with two unknown blokes in The Cross Keys.
I rather fancied the one on my left. Alas I was too merrily on my way to
acknowledge fact until the next day when I saw this picture.
I didn't even ask his name *shaking my head*

Melt down

Rain glorious rain! The wet stuff that is falling from the skies is melting away the white stuff which has rendered Britain into a third world country. Yes!

"I'm siging in the rain, just singing in the rain..."

More of the dreaded white stuff

White stuff is falling from the sky once again and London is not coping. Outside my house this morning was a slow speed head on collision but luckily no one was hurt. This woman was stationary in the middle of the road (for what reason I do not know??) and these two guys just ploughed straight into her in slow speed with no evidence of breaking until about two meters before. She tried to get their attention before it happened by leaning on her horn to no avail. Who knows why these guys could not see that there was absolutely no room to pass. Idiots galore!

Also people who are trying to get into London by trains are experiencing a right kerfuffle. Heathrow and Gatwick are cancelling flights and who knows what the rest of the country is like. At work I am receiving calls to cancel meeting as people are stuck and unable to get in.

I hate this weather and I’ll keep on dreaming of summer hoping it will pass quickly.

Taking part

Saturday I received a letter from NHS that I have been randomly selected to join a national medical research project called Biobank because of my age. I have agreed to take part and booked an two hour appointment with them in March, where they take my blood, urine and saliva for a long term study and storage and generally enquire about my health. There is probably some prodding and poking involved as well but I am sure I can take it.

I might get called back sometime in the future or they might never contact me again. Who knows, something that lurks in my genes might shed light to some obscure medical condition and I might in avertedly help some one somewhere at sometime. The study won’t probably help me personally at all, but who knows because it might help my little nephew Young Vic in the future.

Another thing is that maybe the study will reveal something nasty lurking underneath that might not come to light otherwise. We'll see ;)

Late Kick Off

Lazy days

With the weather being stupid and cold, this weekend I have been doing mainly horizontal observation of telly from under my duvet. I watched all the stuff I taped last week and then for a change and to my delight there has been something worth mentioning on BBC2.

I have always been a fictitious political nerd so with keen interest I watched By The People: The Election of Barack Obama. It was strange as it was real. During the elections I actually supported Hillary all the way and it was nice to see that behind the scenes they were civil to each other (at least on camera). Excellent film!

Then it was turn for fiction and the Heroes returned with new series. I was surprised and happy to see that the writers had pulled out yet a new twist to having "powers". Also a new bunch of baddies with amazing powers and a tattooed lady who shows peoples faces on her back when touched with the magic ink pen. Most excellent stuff!

Today there will be more ogling of the telly from the comfort of my bed. Life is good!

Voyerism at it's best

The last ever (maybe?) Celebrity Big Brother started last Sunday and I confess to be hooked. Well, not exactly but I tape it every night and fast forward the bits with uninteresting people. Predictably I like the "older" people in the house and the younger ones tend to annoy me. The page 3 girl Nicola must be one of the simplest people ever to be on television and I gringe more or less every time she opens her mouth.

I especially like Stephanie Beacham, Vinnie Jones and Heidi Fleiss. Not too sure at all about Stephen Baldwin and his blaah blaah blaah bible blaah blaah which is seriously starting to bore me.

Well, tonight is the first live show and I will have a glass or three of white wine and make an event of it ;)

Deimos news

Deimos loves the snow as much I hate it and he has been enjoying it in Finland with abandon. My Younger Brother send me this picture yesterday where Deimos is having a short break, as the snow is actually too deep to cavort in. What a handsome beast ;)

Looking forward to

After the seriously cold start to this year it makes me feel extra warm and fuzzy inside to know that this summer I will spend 4 weeks in Greece!

But this years travels actually starts with my annual trip to Finland to see Heavy so that we can get on with planning the Greek holidays. We will also do a day trip to Tallinn Estonia with MS Viking XPRS and enjoy few beverages there.

Greek adventure starts with two weeks in Alykes Zante at the end of May.
There we are staying in Bruno Studios and the place looks gorgeous.

Then at mid August it is back to the place that I call home,
Arillas Corfu for a relaxing two weeks.
There (as always) we will reside in our home away from home, the gorgeous
Brouklis Rooms above the brilliant taverna.

The wait feels ever so long but I am sure it will be be totally worth it once I actually am boarding the plane's to the above mentioned destinations. Life will be good ;)

Start as you mean to go on

What a blast last three days have been. There has been lots of beer, enough cider, gorgeous food, brilliant friends, odd mishaps and excellent weather. What more do you want for a quick new years holiday? This afternoon I will escort Heavy to Heathrow and then starts the mundane everyday existence once again to finance the forth coming holidays this year. Cheers friends, it has been fun once again :)
