Today should still be nice and warm and all the wall to wall sunshine of the past few days has kick started my peas into nice growth. Good stuff!

Midweek growth
The lovely summer like weather is set to subside somewhat predictably and the temperatures allegedly will fall down to sad but more usual 10 degrees tomorrow onwards.

Northern Lights Bar
The Northern Lights bar is nested in a little corner of Brighton's lanes and just around the corner from the sea front. A welcome bit of Finland with all Finnish staff and of course lashings of Lonkero and other familiar drinks available. I had a lovely lunch, downed a couple of Lonkero's and thought that I most definitely will return with my friends. Good stuff!

Brighton
Yesterday I took a bus to Wimbledon, tram to East Croydon and half an hour later I was in sunny Brighton. It was still as familiar as it was years ago and not much had actually changed. I walked around the town in no particular order and took couple of pictures. It does not feel like a home anymore, but I sure am glad that it is there.

Weekend plans
Gorgeous sunny afternoon in London town today! Covent Garden is buzzing with happy looking people, gay men are shoving off their gorgeous bodies with minimal clothing and there is definitely a happy Friday vibe.
Tomorrow I will go a for a day trip to my old home town Brighton and get some sea air into my tired London lungs. The absolute must to visit there is a bar called Northern Lights on Little East Street as they sell Lonkero, yeiiiiiiii! I will take my camera with me and there will be photographic evidence if I remember to use it. Life is good!
Have a good weekend everyone!

Cautiously optimistic
The Eyjafjallajokull seems to have quieten down somewhat and the winds have changed blowing the ash more towards Atlantic. People seem to be getting home and no one that I have heard of has died whilst trying to do so.
This makes me an cautious optimist regarding the fly things being sorted by my travel date (after 31 sleeps!) so I will allow myself to get a little bit more excited now. *little yelp of joy*

Planning the possible Plan B
It is now only 34 sleeps until my trip to Alykes Zante, but if the volcano does not go back to sleep there really has to be a plan B. The worst part of that will be that I won’t see Heavy until August (if then?) if this no fly thing continues past 23rd May. Not fun :(
Well, it will then have to be a mini tour of Britain or maybe couple of weeks in Devon? I could go and have a barmy boozy weekend in Baltonsborough with the old hippies Phil and Jen, go and get leery in Leire whilst drinking in The Merrie Monk pub or find a beach pub and just lean back with a pint and ogle the surfer boys in Torquay. Sounds like almost a plan ;)
The thing is that I can’t make any plans as the volcanic ash situation changes daily and Eyjafjallajokull just keeps spewing. The waiting starts here *deep sigh*

The good, the bad and the rest
Mixed bag of news this weekend. I start of with (not sure good or bad) optical news. I was told yesterday that I need to get varifocal lenses on my glasses as I my reading sight is starting to show signs of deterioration that comes with age. You know it is time, when you take your glasses off and move the text further away to be able to read it. Middle age, here I am.
To the really good news! My beloved Tottenham has trashed out both Arse...nal and Chelsea this week which has made me deliriously happy. We are sitting pretty as no 4 in the Premier League with 4 more games to go. Good times!
To keep the balance in the universe, there are bad news as well. The sad news came from my cousin who told me that a friend of mine from school years had been murdered. I have known people who die because of illness or accidents, but never have I known anyone who was murdered. Strange.
Skies above London are blissfully quiet because there are no planes crowding it. Volcanic ash seems to be the main topic of conversation everywhere. The news are barely mentioning the elections and politicians can see their momentum going up in ashes so to speak. This is nature, what can you do?

Beer Friday
Yesterday Ms B and I rushed to The Cross Keys pub the minute work was finished. We cured most ills of the world and managed to behave our selves with out any embarrassing incidents.
Shortly I will have to take my hangover head to the opticians in Wimbledon as it is time to go and check what is happening in the ocular department of my body. Last time was 3 years ago so it is about time.

Goodbye Peter Steele
The sad news of the untimely death of Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele came as somewhat a shock. This giant could melt me with his voice and he is a loss to all music but especially metal.
"I beg to serve, your wish is my law,
Now close those eyes and let me love you to death.
Shall I prove I mean what I'm saying?
Begging,
I say the beast inside of me's gonna get ya, get ya, get.. yeah.
Let me, love you to...
Let me, love you to death.
To death.
Let me, love you to...
Let me, love you to death.
To death. "

Moderately manic Monday
It has been truly a Monday all day today. It started with a faulty train at Colliers Wood underground, which meant that I had to take a bus to Wimbledon and hop on a over ground train to Waterloo and then get on the Northern Line to get to Leicester Square station. Fun…not really but not too bad as I made it to work on time.
At work everything has been happening that causes maximum pain in the proverbial butt. Conference booking going crazy, lunches ordered then promptly cancelled, phone system going down and staying down for over 2 hours(still down as I am writing this). Fun… not even near the meaning of the word.
I know the day is not over yet but I have started to be in a Zen like state and unless nothing more goes wrong today, I will survive ;)

Cloudy Sunday morning
Yesterday was gorgeous weather wise and I actually got two loads of washing dried outside. In the afternoon I settled in front of the telly for the Grand National with a glass of white wine and loved the race. My bet, a horse called Backstage, fell unfortunately on the 20th hurdle but the jockey and the horse were both OK. In fact all the horses and riders were all right despite few nasty looking falls. The winner was a horse called Don't Push It who made my mates Phil and Jen £50 richer. Good stuff!
Today I aim for some deep relaxation and will enjoy most of it horizontally and watch a bit of football with my beloved Spurs playing at Wembley today. Life is good ;)

Sunny Friday
Today dawned lovely, not a cloud in the sky, warm and sunny. And it also was the first morning when it was warm enough for me to leave the house in my hooded top and no over coat.

Tomorrow is the Grand National and I have placed my annual bet on a horse and I hope it will gallop through to win me some money. Previous years I have only once succeeded, but oh it was ever so sweet! Have a brilliant weekend :)

Blaah blaah blaah blaah....
The election hulabaloo has started with the vengeance. The current PM the unelected Mr Brown is trying to urge people “not to stop the recovery” and vote for them. Well, you made the gigantic mess Mr brown and there are very few if any signs of recovery. Not buying it!
Call me Dave is in turn promising to take care of the “ignored”. Hmmmm, as I have always been the member of the “ignored” (40 something, single, woman, one wage income and no tax relief about anything EVER!) this promise is not making me feel warm and fuzzy at all. Not buying it either!
Just as well, because I am an tax paying alien living in this country, not able to vote on national elections and of course ultimately nothing ever changes.
Well, maybe just the name for the group of discontent that claims to govern this Great Britain where I live and earn my money, so that I can go to some other countries few times a year to spend it on my holidays ;)

Sunday gardening
Today Min and I have been messing about in the garden as the April showers have been far and few in between. I planted my peas and Min re potted all the garden potted plants. Mr S came out to supervise in the hope that we would not be using his allocated space of the garden which of course we were not. Here is the visual of it with some beer to make it more enjoyable. Life is good!
I started of with weeding with Mira the cat pretending to supervise the activity

Long weekend ahead
Brilliant sunny but chilly morning in London town before the rain returns. Various April fool jokes have been quite funny but I have not tried to pull one on anyone.
I just received a huge chocolate egg from my boss and I will enjoy it this weekend with some white wine in the comfort of my bedroom. Weather forecast is promising to be changeable but I do hope to get my peas planted some time this weekend and it would be nice to be able to potter about in the garden with a glass of wine in my hand. Life is good :)
