Alykes - Part 5

Same old same old! Life has melted into lazy days and hectic evenings and there has been much more food and drink.

Yesterday was overcast which was good as there actually is such thing as too much sun. At lunch time bunch of local lads gathered at the beach for a fight club and took some chunks of each other at the pier. We observed it well away from the Paporo Taverna as lunch and violence do not go together that good.

Still few more days to go and life is good indeed ;)

Alykes - Part 4

Temperatures keep getting higher, tan deepens and more beer is being consumed. Although last night we had to give a miss to the village bar tour as we let it slip into a lot of alcohol here in the Yria Bar the previous night. Fun it was too :)

Tonight is Saturday night and we are feeling all right. After a quick beauty sleep we will commence spending it in and around the village and no doubt there will be some alcohol. Yamas and life is good ;)

Alykes - Part 3

What a gorgeous hot weather we have been enjoying for the past few days here in Alykes. Life has been good and food even better. This morning we actually got inspired and walked to the nearby Alykanas village but after visiting few shops we walked back and counted our blessings that we were staying where we were.

Few more bars have been visited; Iris Bar, Sugarbush and Enigma. Couple of more taverna’s tried, tested and approved and several more nice people met. We met another fellow Finn, eaves dropped on couple of Swedish ladies and have been neighbours with a Dutch family on the beach, but other than the local folk everybody else is British in the village.

But life plods on nicely, the tan is coming along brilliantly with no sun burns and tomorrow should be another scorcher. Good night from Yria Bar and Yamas!

Alykes - Part 2

Another day in sun soaked Alykes. We have spent it on the beach predictably and good it was too. Lunch happened on the beach as well in Buca Bar with lashings of beer to accompany gorgeous food. Tonight the plan is that there is no plan but more than likely there will be more good food and beer. Life is good :)

This is for Ms B - Greetings from the beach ;)

Alykes - Part 1

Saturday afternoon I booked into the hotel at Gatwick and relaxed for a couple of hours waiting for Heavy's flight to land. Her flight arrived only 15 min late and we proceeded to the hotel where we ate a buffet meal with lashings of white vino. Then to bed around 22.30 and up again at 02.30 as we had to be at the North Terminal by 04.00 for our stupid'o'clock flight which left on time. Lots of monsters on the plane but none were screaming or pooping near us which was nice. The landing was a bit rough and it felt like the captain broke something but apparently he did not.

Sunny Zakynthos welcomed us and we took a taxi from the airport and arrived to Alykes @ 12.10. Our hostess Angela Bruno Studios met us and showed us to the apartment. This was a surprise as we had only reserved a studio but we did not complain of having a bedroom each with a huge kitchen and a bathroom. We have a sea view from the balcony and to the village view from the kitchen and the immaculate apartment has absolutely everything you could think you need whilst on holiday. So we can highly recommend these apartments to any one who asks.

First lunch was in Fidelio and first dinner at To Paradosiako. First merry drinking evening was spent at Spikey's Sports and Cocktail Bar and made few new friends.

This morning we were surpsingly spright and headed straight to the beach. There is a marvellous beach service fellow called Mr Kev who serves hot and cold beverages straight to your sun lounger. So the hard crafting of fun in the sun can be enjoyed in a most civilized manner. Lunch was at Relax and nice it was too and now we are sitting in Yria Bar enjoying a pre dinner beer and some internet action.

Tonight England plays a friendly against Mexico and there will be more beer. Life is good :)

Towards Alykes

Almost there in Alykes Zante! We will be staying in Bruno Studios and look forward to meeting our hosts Bruno and Angela. Our flight is tomorrow morning stupid o'clock and if there are no delays, we should land around 11.30.

Most of the time we will probably spend on the beach and you might spot us there via this webcam. I think it is most civilized to have a bar on the beach ;)

Or have an ogle at our accommodation situated more or less in the middle of the picture of this other webcam.

There will be reports and pictures as the hard craft of lazy holidaying progresses. Life is good indeed :)

Fridayyyyyy!!!

Sweltering hot and sunny Friday morning in London town. Last day to work and to my delight it lasts only until 14.00. Then I have a dentist appointment to get to where marvellous fellow Finn Dr JB will do a check up, polish my gnashers and get them pretty for my holidays. Then I will go and get my nails done and then enjoy a glass or two of white vino whilst finishing the packing. Life is good :)

Chat over a steak

Ms Jennifer Jones arrived yesterday afternoon and we headed to the Angus Steak House down the street from my work for dinner. Food was good, company better and some of the worlds ills were cured or at least laughed at. Good times!

10oz Sirloin hit the spot nicely

We like beer :)

Monday musings

Beautiful sunny morning in London town after a quiet and relaxing weekend. Only thing that has bothered me is the sodding volcano burbing away and winds blowing in the wrong direction.

I have a dinner date today after work with my friend Miss Executive Producer Jennifer Jones as she will be in town. She just texted me from Helsinki airport that looks like the flight is ok to go and she will be able to take off and land here in Little Britain. Good stuff!

Then I will somehow muddle through this working week (fingers crossed!) meet Heavy at the Gatwick airport on Saturday evening, stay briefly in a hotel and catch a stupid'o'clock flight to Alykes Zakynthos the following morning. Life is good :)

Dave got the job

Well here we are. Brand spanking new, first of a kind in this country, a coalition government and they finally agreed with Conservative Liberals. I personally think it is nice to have chaps running the country who's names sound like they are blokes in my local pub. Call me Dave is the boss, Nick is the deputy and Georgie boy is holding the purse :)

Let's hope that they do better than the previous unelected occupant of no10 who could not even seem to arrange a piss up in a brewery with out bankrupting it. Cheers Dave!

I am sooooooooooooo glad that this election boredom is over for now and let's see how these guys fare on. I expect nothing much changes.

Corfu Rock School

As my friends and family know, I have a special place in my heart for a place called Arillas in Corfu. For the past few years I have visited there for at least for a week annually and naturally I am dreaming of owning a house there one day.

There is now a cool thing happening in the village called Corfu Rock School. A three week music camp in which the daily music activities will include personal instruction and ensemble practice. Student performances and jams will take place at Corfu Rock School and at local venues depending on availability. But there is also non-musical adventures include - boating, tubing, windsurfing, beach games, hiking/walking tours, island tour, trips to old Corfu town, Aqualand Water Park, exploration of the island and fun group activities.

It is way too late for me to have the best camp experience ever, but maybe my nephew young Vic will grow into budding musician and I can offer him a brilliant experience on my favorite island.

Good non political news

The news about Poison's Bret Michaels getting better after his brain haemorrhage scare is a welcome deviation from this "well hung" parliament nonsense in the UK media. All I can hear anymore is blaah blaah blaah blaah...

Here is Poison with Talk Dirty To Me and happy Friday :)

Thursday thoughts

This Thursday dawned cloudy but my heart was singing. My beloved Tottenham did their best last night in the form of lovely goal from Peter Crouch that sealed our place in the Champions League for the next season. Love me love my team!

Today is the Election Day and I will do my democratic bit by going to vote after work. I can only vote at the local elections, but I make sure it counts somehow. Alas, nothing will probably change but I think that it is high time for the Labour fall out guy, the unelected Mr Brown to take his failed policies and f**k off out from no10. Who ever is going there next will have the mammoth task of sorting out the dreadful mess that is called Great Britain.

The coming weekend promises to be a quiet one. Tomorrow how ever I will pop to Stockwell after work for my friend Maria’s house warming party. Other than that it will be just chilling out and hoping that the weather warms up.

Deimos at spring time

My gorgeous ex canine companion, the silk haired sofa eater, a pure mutt known affectionately as Deimos who resides nowadays with my Younger Brother has embraced the spring time in southern Finland with the vengeance. The ice has gone so the Baltic sea is a fair game as to chasing sticks, which is mighty important in a dogs life. What a handsome beast and I do love him to bits :)

Thank you my Younger Brother for sharing the pic!

New glasses

Here I am wearing my new middle age varifocal goggles and getting used to them. I also have the reactions lenses added on them, which makes life a bit easier in bright sunshine. So far I have not bumped into any furniture or fallen down the stairs so fingers crossed that I wont ;)
