It pays to be a winner

Bright Sunday morning in London town and it started with and email from National Lottery advising me to check my lottery account. Yesh, I did indeed win some of the lottery but only £10 worth with 3 numbers correct. Well, it is always better than a poke to the laa laa's with an antique mangle ;) Every little helps and life is good!

Friday yeah!

Finally Friday!!! After yesterdays gorgeous weather I am still feeling quite happy as today is dawning quite bright as well. Even the toddler type monsters in the tube did not manage dampen my spirits yesterday.

This time there was an "it" which was a deluxe annoyance model with a stink coming from dirtied pants (inside) and no MP3 player could mask that odour in the confined space all the way home next to me. Seriously... *shaking my head*

This weekend not much will happen and what will, will mostly happen with some red vino. Have a good weekend ;)

Tuesday yawn

Most of the North Africa and Arabian peninsula people are going blood shit crazy and collectively they finally have decided to try and join democracy on the 21st century, well if they can that is. Naturally the despots have stashed their well robbed fortune (mostly here in London alledgedly!) and continue their good life somewhere away from the revolts thus showing two fingers to the poor nations. And that is all I got to say about that.

Closer to home the problem, apart from the usual whole country going to hell in a hand cart, it is half term time school holidays. The monsters of various different age groups decend to Covent Garden where I have to see and hear them most of the day.

And if that does not get on my wig, the monsters in the tube do. Because for some reason the "thoughtful" parents decide to take them home during the rush hour in the overcrowded trains and I have to crank up my MP3 player to 11 to avoid hearing "why is the sky blue" type of conversations after a work day. *shaking my head*

National Census Day is March 27 and the government is trying to raise awareness so that it can get an accurate snap shot of this deteriorating nation. The form consists about a billion questions about how you live etc and generally something that the government does absoutely NOT NEED TO KNOW. One of the questions is about religion and I have decided not to tell them what I believe in (or if in anything), and I will add myself as Agnostic Atheist. Or maybe a Jedi, not quite decided yet...

But if those are the biggest problems in my life at the moment, I am not doing too bad at all considering ;)

Ice ice baby...

As gringe worthy as the song "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice was/is for some people, never the less he was and is a rather of an eye candy.

Mr Ice has been wowing the British viewers on Dancing On Ice this season and got me thinking impure thoughts through out. Other than that I don't care much of the program as my empathetic bone cant take the people falling over on the ice and getting hurt.

Last night Mr Ice got up and danced to his greatest hit on ice and did it actually really good. Come to mama... ;)

Katie does Freddie

It is time of the year when the silliness for a charitable causes takes over the telly. And time has come again to dance for the Comic Relief. Previous winners Robert Webb and Rufus Hound were gorgeous whilst dressed as women, but this year I will go with Katie Price being dressed as a man who is dressed as a woman and doing Queen's I want to break free. Good stuff!

Quote of the day

"The focus on minority rights should not result in overlooking the rights of the majority"

-Lord Justice Gross-

Finally a victory for common sense, read it here.

Aloha JT!

I have always admired people who work hard and make their dreams come true. My friend JT has done just that and he is upping his semi nomad excistence from London town and moving to a place called Kihei on the beautiful island of Hawaii to become a part time beach bum.

Good luck mate with your new life and you might well get a visitor there in the future ;)

Larry the cat

This news cheered me up after not so amusing morning. He is the newest appointment in Downing Street and will serve under this coalition government. He is a rescue cat from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and what a handsome beast.

Welcome Larry to the most important job of your feline career :)

Tuesday rant

The rainy day is making grouchy, so here comes the rant. I am starting to get fed up with paying for stuff that has nothing to with me.

Take the rising childcare costs that people are whinging about. Well, kids cost money even a simpleton knows that. If I buy a car I do know that the maintenance is going to cost and things will probably go wrong mechanically and I will be left to pick up the bill. Same applies to children so put and shut up as I am already funding your kids from the taxes I pay!

Next on the list is the bloody Olympics next year. We Londoners foot the bill for these games again through our taxes whether we want to or not and our blonde Mayor Boris Johnson has advised Londoners not to use the tube during the games as it will be congested with the extra few million people in the city for the games. Again I have to fund something massively uninteresting so I am seriously contemplating on reserving the time 27.07 – 12.08.2012 to bugger off to a Greek island and avoid the whole awful kerfuffle that the sodding Olympics bring here.

And once again there is the religious group that is upset about a program that has been made about them. Enough already and my solution for this is: stop writing about them, stop making programs about them and stop force feeding their message down people’s throats and stop giving them a voice. And that goes equally to any and all organised religious groups who are politicising their cause. Be what you want to be, but don’t make me listen as I know where to find you if I want to, and if I am interested. Just in case you did not get the message, I really am not interested.

The good thing in the news is the victory for the long suffering Italian women who in my opinion forced the hands of the Italian old boy network and got their slippery eel like Prime Ministers prosecution underway for paying for underage sex. Go ladies! Rant over ;)

Shhhh - it's Sunday

Quiet chill out weekend continues. Yesterday ,although it was a gorgeous sunny day, I leisurly spend it in bed watching telly. Today I have a Skype date with my friend Heavy, but apart from that not much will happen today either. Life is good ;)

Lost in a good book

I just finished reading a marvellous book by Chris Kuzneski called The Lost Throne. The book had good story line, interesting characters, murder, mayhem and mystery. And as a bonus most of it was set in my favorite country Greece so that part gave me huge enjoyment as well.

The main characters are Payne & Jones who are former members of the MANIACs, a Special Forces squad that they once commanded. MANIAC is an acronym that stands for Marines, Army, Navy, Intelligence, Air Force, and Coast Guard. There was also a Finnish character called Jarkko, who actually got the last line in the story:

The Finn shrugged it off. 'That is fine. Jarkko does not mind tiny joke. Do you know why?' 'No,'Payne wondered. 'Why?' Jarkko put his arms round Payne and Jones. 'Because my friends, it is time to drink!'

To my delight there are 5 other books in the Payne & Jones series and the author is penning the seventh as we speak. Good stuff!

Motörhead Shiraz 2009

Two things that I love have come together; Motörhead and red vino. The Motörhead Shiraz 2009 is now available in Scandinavia but unfortunately not yet in UK. I hope it comes on sale here soon. Good stuff!

"The wine has a very fruity aroma, with flavours of vanilla, blackberries, plums, eucalyptus and liquorice. A full-bodied fruity wine with flavours of cherries, blackberries, vanilla, plums and oak barrels. With soft rounded tannins.

Enjoy Motörhead Shiraz with dishes like grilled lamb chops with garlic and rosemary. Also goes well with other lamb or beef dishes, as well as pasta and flavoursome cheeses. Serve a little below room temperature, around 16 - 18°C."

Most excellent visit to look forward to!

Yesterday my very good friend Heavy confirmed that she will be arriving for a much appreciated visit here to London town a day before the Royal Wedding and she will bring along her good mood and fanciest dress! I too will be dressed in my bestest frock and naturally we will be doing our utmost celebrating the first Royal nuptials of this century with few carefully selected beverages. Good times!

Pretty new ink

This weekend has been blustery and the winds made it impossible for me to go and attend Ms B's boat party. That is because I believe I have drunk my sea legs away years ago and I simply cannot cope with the inner ear unbalance on moving surfaces combined with alcohol making me want to hurl everything and anything consumed by mouth.

Never mind, but I did manage to get a new gorgeous tattoo yesterday! It was done by this very nice lady called Ally at my local Wizard Tattoo where I had my back done last year by Atom and it is fabulous!

My leg looks like in the picture more like a cold chicken cut variety, but the calf is now wayyyyy much prettier on my better hind leg. I will publish another picture (read better!) as soon as it has healed. Good stuff!

Finally it is Friday! The alcohol is back on the menu, tomorrow is Ms B's party on a boat and general chilling out will happen for the rest of the weekend. Life is good so here is a virtual Friday hug to all of yous :)

Goodbye DCI Barnaby!

One of my favourite TV series Midsomer Murders said goodbye to DCI Tom Barnaby, played by gorgeous John Nettles who bowed out last night. I will miss him and his velvety voice and his calmness when facing the dark and ugly side of the life in an English village.

There has been countless murders, maimings, blackmail, threats and suicides in the ever unfortunate and lethal fictional county of Midsomer. Naturally there will be a replacement for him and more quintessentially English murder and mayhem is on its way. Good stuff!

Finally!

This news today made me giddy with anticipation. Adult only flights are a step closer of becoming a reality and I for one am totally willing to pay for it.

"Carriers such as BA, Virgin Atlantic and Emirates are considering 'adult-only' flights after a survey revealed that three quarters of business-class travellers found youngsters on planes irritating."

For years my friends and I have cursed the little monsters on the airplanes and their idiotic parents who do not know how to control or simply do not care how the fruits of their loins are affecting all the other passengers with their kicking and screaming. *shivers*

February is here

Dropless January was finished with honours and yesterday I had a glass of Bucks Fizz to celebrate my colleagues 30th B-Day at work and then I had a beer with my dinner. How exciting!

Today is the Groundhog Day and an animal in the USA will be predicting the weather. Personally I miss the summer dreadfully and can't wait these next three months to fly away in a quick haze. Yep, still wishing my life away...*deep sigh*
