The day after the wedding

Oh what fun it was to sit in the pub at 10.00 in the morning and watch the wedding kerfuffle unfold. The weather held and the sun came out in the afternoon and despite the evil wind it was a nice day.

During yesterday we frequented 3 pubs, downed countless pints and lasted just over 9 hours before we had to admit that we hit the proverbial drinking wall. We manged to totter home in our heels, the tiaras did not fall of once and no tights were laddered.

Mind you it was nice to wake up with no hangover (yeeeeiiiii!) as we are about to hit the town and no doubt enjoy few more pints along the way. Life is fun :)

Here we are dressed to kill ;)

Royal Wedding Day

Heavy got here last night in orderly fashion and with no delays. After a take away dinner there were few beverages and catching up with the news.

This morning has been a whirlwind of hair and make up related action but even if I say so myself, we scrub up nicely ;)

Tiara - Check!
Creamcake dress - Check!
No ladder in my tights- Check!
Brolly in the handbag - Check!
Heavy all dolled up - Check!

So we are good to go and shortly we are off to the pub and let the merriment commence!

Happy Thursday!

Last hour at work before I head to Heathrow to meet Heavy. Sun is out but the evil Northerly wind is still blowing. Still, only 59 min to freedom...

Grey day

Wall to wall grey across the skies this morning with temperature + 10 degrees and evil Northerly wind blowing. After traipsing around in shorts and a vest top this weekend gone this morning getting up and getting to work was a heck of a shock to the system.

The weather forecast does not look much better for the week ahead, including the all important Royal Wedding day.

Alas, I am not too worried as the pub we are going to has a roof, it opens at 10.00, they serve a full english breakfast and have 3 big screens to view the nuptials TV coverage.

Heavy will make her way from Finland to London town on Thursday and then the celebrations can start in earnest. Life will be good ;)

Easter Sunday

Few heavy showers with magnificent thunder and lightning were thrown in yesterday afternoon which cooled down the almost stifling temperatures of the past few days. Now, I do loooooove heat but in April I felt somewhat ill prepared for the pleasure. Still, there is never too much sun even if it is enjoyed under an umberlla ;)

Today the forecats is still +26 degrees but more showers are on their way this evening. Chocolate is a commodity of vast amounts in our house at the mo as all of us have got some of the good stuff for each other, which is really nice.

My chocolate vice is the Cadbury's Cream Egg which are a plenty and I might be seriously overdosing on all of the good stuff! Thank you one and all my lovely friends :)

Smog on the water

Phewww! The heatwave continues and now at 08.00 it is already +18 degrees. This in turn makes everyone choke here in London town as the filth from car exhaustion etc. fills the air.

Mind you the smog alert extends to Wales as well so fresh air is really scarse for most of the island.

Here in Colliers Wood we luckily have had clear skies and spending time in the garden has been the main feature for me yesterday and more of the same is likely today.

Life is good ;)

Happy Birthday Your Majesty!

Dear Queen,

I wish you the happiest 85th birthday and I hope you find time for some cake and a pressies.

I trust your grandchildren are taking time to come and see you despite their busy lives and parties they are arranging.

I myself will celebrate your birthday accordingly by raising several glasses of sweet white vino tonight.

Then I have luxurious 4 days to do sweet nothing and contemplate life from my garden.

Have a brilliant day and I'll see you at the wedding next week!

Yours sincerely,

KB

Painful democracy

Well, the Finn's have made their choice in the parliamentary elections and they have gone and coloured the political map bright blue.

This time I did not vote as there is no one who cares about my issues and me living here in London town the result does not really make any difference to my everyday living.

"Life's a piece of shit When you look at it Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you. "

Nephew No 2

Yesterday early evening @ 18.34 (local time in Finland) my Sis-In-Law produced my Nephew No2. Big lad with vital statistics of 3.8kg and 51cm.

At the moment it is hard to say who he looks like apart from a Klingon or a very grumpy old geezer, but I sure it will become apparent in the future.

Congrats to my Big Brother, Sis-In-Law and Young Vic for the new family member and I will raise a glass or a gallon of booze this weekend to celebrate!

Riding to work with Mötley Crüe

This week I have been doing my daily travel in the underground with Mötley Crüe book The Dirt as my travelling companion.

The book in the Westminster library (where I borrowed it from) is credited to Tommy Lee, but every band member and few other characters get to tell their stories of how it all turned in to full blown rock'n'roll debauchery as a life style.

To quote my friend Min after she read the book:"You are just gobsmacked at the level of insanity as you turn the pages, but somehow they manage to top all that groseness on the next page!"

"After the Rainbow each night, we'd walk to Santa Monica Boulevard, where all young rockers and actors who never made it were pimping themselves. We'd scrounge up enough of money to buy an egg burrito from Noggles. Then we'd bite the end off and stick our dicks into the warm meat to cover up the smell of pussy so that our girlfriends didn't know we were fucking anything stupid or drunk enough to get into Tommy's van." -Vince Neil, from chapter 3 of The Dirt-

Yep, it is about awfully gritty, self centred chauvinistic male behaviour topped with abusing every possible drug invented in a general "cesspool of depravity".

Entertaining book? Oh yes, but I cannot believe what total pigs (sorry pigs!) these guys were/are. I don't think that using other people for sport is very rock'n'roll...at all. But sadly, each to their own and live and let live ;)

April blues

Weather has returned to norm temperature and the famous April showers are to be expected. Working week has started nice and quiet and I hope it continues like that.

So I'll just get on with the never ending work, eat, sleep drudge and keep counting down to the long awaited Easter long weekend. Only 7 more days to work after today! I can tell you; I CAN'T WAIT!

In bed with Lemmy

After a glorious day yesterday I decided to watch some testestorone fuelled entertainment and watched Lemmy the movie DVD.

The man
himself and his band were followed around by a film crew for a couple of years to get this film together. Good stuff!

Mind you, after all that I was happy that Mamma Mia came on ITV to counter balance the rock and roll excesses of the previous hour and a half and restore my feminine side again ;)

Finally Friday

What a strange week it has been. Everything has been going wrong at work with ugly customers, technology playing up without any hope for a timely technical support from the technical support and ample of stupid mistakes on forms and billing.

But the weather has been gorgeous and they say that it will continue through to the weekend. I will get all my laundry dried outside and I might even eat my meals in the garden as this might be the famous "British summer" for this year.

Enjoy it peeps, I fully intend to ;)

Lunch time walk by the Thames

L'Oreal...your really are not worth it

Whinge and moan time! I have a slightly sensitive lily white scandinavian skin that does not tolerate cheap and cheerful products. L'Oreal has always been relatively cost effective and had most excellent products that suit my face.

Now they have discontinued my mascara and my foundation powder. For the love of Mike, f*/!ing hell and few more expletives!!!

Why why why why why why why why, oh why have you done this to me L'Oreal?!

Have I not been a faithful customer and spending my hard earned cash on your hair and make up products for decades? Have I not been marketing your products to my friends faithfully and in ever praising way?

I now will have to start the arduous process of finding alternative stuff to slap on my face and more than likely it will be from your competitor.

Yours sincerely, very sad and hopping mad,

Karelian Blonde

P.S At the very least, please bring back the adverts with David Ginola!

Medieval filth in London town

Totally gorgeous summer like day here in London town today! The temperature is already balmy +18 and people are smiling.

A stark contrast to today was a BBC2 programme last night called Filthy Cities presented by historian Dan Snow. It described in vivid visual detail of life in the discustingly filthy London in medieval times. I can assure you it was really disturbing and totally obscene. *shivers*

"Do you have to dodge the contents of bedpans or step over rotting corpses on your way to work? Well, you may have had to if you’d lived in London, New York or Paris back when they were filthy cities. In this immersive new series Dan Snow brings these cities’ stinking histories vividly to life from the bottom up. Taking the travelogue in a whole new direction - with extraordinary, hands-on demos and stunts and revolutionary CGI - he excavates the murky past in gruesome detail during defining periods in history. You’ll find out how each of these modern capitals was forged in the muck of the past, emerging from ‘filthy cities’ into three of the world’s model metropolises."

Next week it is Paris's turn to get the ye olde filth treatment, but I am not sure if my stomach can take it.

Annual spud doo daa

Today the weather gods have been smiling over SW19 and the temperature has been most agreeable +18 degrees. It was time to plant the spuds once again, as we do most springs and I can report that it was done swiftly and now almost professionally.

And at the end of the 15 min or so hard manual labour I had a well earned glass(es) of chilled sweet white vino. Life is Good ;)

And now we wait for stuff to grow...

Sunny Friday

The sun has just come out in London town after a grey morning and the temperature is climbing accordingly.

But the really good news of today is that the mobile network won't be happening (at least not yet!) in the tube network. YEEEEEEIIIIIIIIII! What would be more irritating than people talking on their phones in the over crowded hell that is the London Underground.

Norm weekend is expected but with a difference of the colour of the vino. Sweet white wine is back on the menu as the spring has sprung ;)
